What are the current IRA contribution and income limits?
For 2026 the total you may contribute across all of your traditional and Roth IRAs combined is $7,500, or $8,600 if you are age 50 or older by the end of the year. Both figures are capped by your taxable compensation for the year if that is lower.
Separate income ranges then determine two different things: whether a traditional IRA contribution is deductible, and whether you may make a Roth IRA contribution at all. Being above a range does not necessarily mean you cannot contribute — it depends which range you are above.
All of these figures are adjusted annually. The amounts below apply to 2026 and are sourced in the panel at the end of this page.
